How it works: You will either serve every other Sunday, or every Third Sunday. Regardless, each time you serve it will be with the same team. When it’s your day to serve, come to the bookstore at that specified time. That is where you will check in and get your nametag. Since the bookstore is open all day, volunteers serve in two-hour time blocks.
Here are the times:
9:00am service: Serve from 8:30 -10:30
11:00am service: Serve from 10:30-12:30
4:00pm service: Serve from 3:30-5:30
6:00pm service: 5:30-7:30
Team work: Each bookstore team will consist of around 4 volunteers and each team will have a captain. The captain in the bookstore will be the point person, will help things run smoothly, and help you learn how to operate the registers.
Answering questions: While you are serving in the bookstore please take the time to go through the books and really get to know the environment. People will often come up and ask questions and being familiar with the bookstore will help you. During the service is a great time to do that.
Tshirts: You have been provided with a host team t-shirt. It is an option for you to wear while serving. It is not a requirement. Please note that the first tshirt is free – after that tshirts are $5 each and can be purchased in the bookstore.
